Congratulations for Sándor Deme, external expert and consultant of the Centre for Energy Research, who was awarded the Zoltán Bay Award!
The Zoltán Bay Award is given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in recognition of outstanding work and lifetime achievement in the field of space research. Zoltán Bay, the eponym of the prize, was the leader of the group conducting the Hungarian lunar radar experiment back in 1946.
The Zoltán Bay Award was awarded to Dr. Sándor Deme, PhD, external expert and consultant of the Centre for Energy Research, for his exemplary work in the field of Hungarian space activities, including space dosimetry (especially in the development of the Pille space dosimetry system), which has been outstandingly successful over decades. The award was presented by Dr. Orsolya Ferencz, Ministerial Commissioner for Space Research, on 18 May 2022.

This year, the Bay Zoltán Award was also awarded to retired Brigadier General Andor Grósz, Professor Emeritus of the University of Szeged, and the Hungarian Space Research Medal to István Erényi, a staff member of the Governmental Information Technology Development Agency.
